Need a short play written. Needs to have a significant space/place/setting. The play must offer a sense of oppression, with the single space, itself, eluding a sense of oppression. Do not move the play from this one physical space. Other than that it can be about anything.
* For this week’s writing exercise, you will write a short play.
* Think of one significant space/place/setting for your play. There can be a movement in time, but the physical space must remain the same.
*Allow your single setting to be as forceful as a living room decorated for Christmas, a cold kitchen, an empty deserted space. Your setting should be akin to a character in the play, having purpose and meaning.
* Set your short play up as follows:
**Offer short setting descriptions. State your setting simply and begin.
**Give your play a title of its own, centered with your name following on the next line.
**Give opening stage directions.
**Use the colon : after the name of the character who is speaking.
** Single-space your lines with double-spacing between. For instance, single space one character’s dialogue, double-space, and then single space the next character’s dialogue.
* I give you freedom on what your play is about. However, your play must offer a sense of oppression, with the single space, itself, eluding a sense of oppression. Do not move your play from this one physical space.
