Part I: Review of the Literature
Name: Lab Section 01
To begin this project, you will need to provide evidence of work you have done reviewing the published literature in your area of interest. The outline below is your opportunity to catalogue the “evidence” you will need to turn in to your TA to make sure you are on the right track with this project.
- Initial topic idea (Why did you choose this topic?), and preliminary research (textbook, reliable web sources, etc.):
I choose an article about hepatocellular carcinoma because my grandfather as of last week was diagnose with it. I would love to know more in depth about the cancer and that this article presents target theory as well. It would be good to know if there were more treatment options available.
- First keyword search in primary literature:
The keyword that I used to search in the primary literature was “hepatocellular carcinoma” in the AJP Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology Journal.
- Second keyword search in primary literature:
The second keyword searched in the primary literature was inhibits. It was within the last 5 years of our requested search.
- Other searches as necessary or change in direction:
I will focus on treatment options and to learn how the cancer itself could be potentially suppressed or inhibit.
- Which methods or search engines were most productive/helpful to you besides the American Journal of Physiology?
Other search engines that were helpful were google scholar, the national library of medicine,
- Bibliography information of 5-10 recent articles(preferably from 2015-present) in a specific area of research interest.
1) Typed. Formatted in 12-point, Times New Roman font.
- References should be cited using American Journal of Physiology formatting
(alphabetized and numbered).
- Your selected article must come from the American Journal of Physiology, so it would be helpful to have several articles from this source.
*Review papers, clinical reports, editorials and the like are not appropriate for this project, however, you could use these sources for references or to gather ideas.
