Key Dates

Coursework 2 is a group project and asks you to imagine that your client is commissioning you – as an independent urban regeneration consultancy – to prepare a masterplan for accommodating some of the new urban growth in the area.

The Module Leader will place students into groups of 3-4 students depending on overall student numbers. You will need to work together and come up with a vision or development scenario for the site that fits in with the wider strategies for the area, is sympathetic to its surroundings and contributes to the regeneration of locality, while being ambitious and innovative.

This coursework will be carried out in groups. A course room has been set up for each group in blackboard – please refer to the Coursework 2 folder for details of which group you are in.

The Output

    • A Cover Page
    • Table of Contents
    • An introduction which briefly introduces your consultancy and sets out what your plan seeks to achieve
    • An explanation of the regeneration context for the site, and an analysis of the relevant policy (planning or otherwise). This may include maps, diagrams or tables.
    • A detailed account of your proposal, including:
      • your vision
      • key regeneration objectives (or principles) and
      • details of what the masterplan contains (e.g. types of uses and buildings, economic targets, jobs, impact on the community, infrastructure).
      • Here you should illustrate your report with sketches, drawing, images/screen grabs
    • A critical evaluation of how your masterplan achieves ‘successful’ regeneration, having regard to point 2 above; and
    • Acknowledgement of any limitations of your masterplan.
    • References

When handing in your work please:
