The Project PowerPoint must address the following topics:
– What informatics competencies do nurses need in order to document in the electronic health record (EHR) and why?
– Consider the use of simulation as a form of education from the viewpoint of a student and a clinician (RN, physician, etc.).
– What are the TIGER recommendations regarding the needed informatics competencies for nurses? In Week 3, the Discussion Forum is focused on the HIMSS TIGER initiative. This discussion will be very helpful in providing the information needed for this project.
– What kind of policies address EHR software in your organization?
– Evaluate and summarize any current and evidence-based recommendations for changes that might be needed. What types and frequency of staff education are needed to assess and maintain EHR competency?
– If policies do not exist, construct a plan to develop policies and implement EHR competencies in your organization. Plans would address frequency and type of staff education to establish and maintain these competencies.
