This project will seek to develop methods using natural language processing and machine learning to automatically identify users that share deceptive news in social media, e.g. propaganda, satire or hoaxes. That will be achieved by analysing written content of users on Twitter (e.g. tweets). Moreover, the project will focus on automatically inferring the personality traits of people that share/consume deceptive news. Automatically identifying users that consume fake news will facilitate intervention for reducing polarization in political discourse.
