James Madison in Federalist #10 in your book, Documents in American History, 1607-1861, (pages 47-53) makes a brilliant argument in favor of ratifying the new Constitution.
What were the advantages of a republican form of government, according to Madison? How was it that the new American republic would be able to control faction? Why was this such a powerful argument to Americans in 1788?
A good paper will be well-written, have a logical argument, and be based ONLY on the evidence found within the one document by James Madison. The paper will be due in lecture Thursday, October 18th.
The papers are to be three (3) pages in length. All papers are to be typed using standard margins, fonts, and spacing. In other words, use one-inch margins, do not exceed a 12-point font, and double-space your paper. Remember to give your paper a title.
Since History 101 fulfills a writing requirement, content is not the only thing on which to focus. Style (including use of language), quality of analysis, grammar, and spelling will also be part of the paper grade. Give yourself enough time so that you have time to correct and improve a rough draft of your paper.
There are faxes for this order.
