Strategic planning is a process that moves from the development of a vision to sharing the vision, to implementation of the vision. It involves mission setting and goal developments. As the leader, you will implement that process in the development of an “Improvement Plan or Strategic Plan” for your school. These plans are collaborative and normally align with the school district’s strategic plan. This assignment will require that you create an imaginary school, and pretend that your school is in need of organizational change. It has not been successful. Student achievement has not risen in the past five years, and the community views it as not being a desirable school for their children. You have been hired as the new principal of this school, and your job is to create a new vision for the school as well as a new mission statement. From there, you will devise a strategic plan to increase student achievement and to regain the trust and confidence of the stakeholders involved.
