We live in an era where individuals must cope with the increasing demands of the global marketplace if they are to be successful. In order to live successfully in a world that has become a “Global Village”, we must be able to interact with world populations and to understand global cultures. In such a world, appreciating and understanding “diversity” as it relates to race, culture, and ethnicity has become extremely important. We are particularly interested in bringing students to this university who are confident in their abilities to suceed in this dynamic new world.
Assignment:
Choose a creative work, a scientific theory, a passage from a novel, a film, a poem, a song or some other art form that you know well and discuss how that work has influenced your thinking on race, culture or ethnicity. Your answer should illustrate the way you see the world and the way you see yourself in that world. (Use this as an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to think critically about yourself and to express your thoughts effectively.)
I am a high school senior applying to a college of engineering technology. I began writing about the John Lennon song “Imagine”. I based my thoughts around the idea that the utopian world described by Lennon looks different on closer examination and that a world without religion and government would probably be caotic. However I felt that I was straying off the prompt and getting sidetracked. Please help me with this or another appropriate idea. My major interest is in computers and Information Technology. My application is due tomarrow. Thank you, Shannon Ramsay
P.S. The name on the credit card is my mom.
