You are going to select a topic from American history to research in depth and write a research paper. Select a topic from an area that you have an interest in (sports, arts, music, politics, the law, etc.). You will formulate an historical argument that will be expressed in your thesis statement and then support your statement with background information and relevant historical evidence (both primary and secondary) and analysis. The writing process will be structured with specific deadlines for each step in the writing process. You must complete all steps in the writing process in the following order to receive credit. You cannot skip any steps before moving on to the next step. Failure to meet deadlines will result in point deductions on overall score.
Length: 4-5 typed pages (excluding title, bibliography, appendix, etc.)
Sources: A minimum of five sources, at least three primary sources, only one encyclopedia.
Structure: 12 Point Font, Times New Roman, Double Spaced, 1” Margins
Crediting Sources: Chicago Style endnotes and bibliography.
