PORTFOLIO REVISION PROMPT
In Paper # 2 you examined a problem here at UHD, including its potential “keystone habit.” You have the theory of why this is a problem. Now add to your personal, anecdotal evidence. For the Portfolio Revision, you must add some primary field research. Find out if other people have this issue as well. You may use surveys (with questionnaires), perform interviews, or make observations (being sure to take some notes). Provide specific data, including any field notes or survey instruments, in an appendix. Be sure to include any phone,
e-mail, or face-to-face interviews on your Works Cited page.
You must also posit a solution for the problem. Remember, the point is not to do “outside research,” but to think about a logical way to resolve the issue. It may be helpful to restate or re-think the keystone issue here. If you like, you may recommend a keystone habit for the university to adopt that might fix your particular problem. Continue to think of the new president (the future president, not our current interim president) as your audience.
Perhaps the most useful links on this page are the Fact Book (published each year), the official and unofficial Fact Sheets (info. on enrollment headcounts for each semester), and the Quick Facts (overview). Feel free to use any information you need from these PDFs; make sure to cite them on your Works Cited page if you use them.

For the revision you are not just adding to your original paper, but using the information in it (and perhaps some of the wording) to enhance your newly expanded idea. Follow this prompt and use pieces of the old paper for “beefing up” your new argument. Give background on the problem (still discussing the keystone habit but now expanded beyond your personal experience) and propose a solution.
Grading criteria will be the same for all three choices: the “A” paper will demonstrate . . .
* close adherence to the prompt,
* strong claim / thesis,
* coherent structure with points in their best order,
* specificity and abundance of illustrative detail (“proof”),
* solid analysis of examples,
* sophistication of introduction and conclusion (conclusion should show added
insight from having gone through the steps of your argument;
work for a compelling “clincher”)
* correct MLA format for Works Cited page,
* as always, commendable grammar / diction / spelling.
If you used this paper for the Portfolio Peer Review, include the peer review sheet and marked-up draft (worth 5 pts.).
