Introduction (including Thesis Statement)
The introduction should include information about the organization/topic that is being covered in the paper and presentation. History/background information can be included as appropriate. Be sure to include a statement on what will be the focus of the analyses conducted for the paper.
Qualitative Analysis Section
Either the Qualitative Analysis Section or the Quantitative Analysis Section can be first. The key with this section is to make sure you are doing the analysis yourself. The main purpose of the paper is to demonstrate mastery of the processes involved (not just locating external information and copying and pasting it in the paper). Reviewing the more qualitative courses in the program should give you some approaches that can be used for this section. Often, more than one approach is used to provide a complete Qualitative Analysis Section.
Quantitative Analysis Section
Either the Qualitative Analysis Section or the Quantitative Analysis Section can be first. The key with this section is to make sure you are doing the analysis yourself. The main purpose of the paper is to demonstrate mastery of the processes involved (not just locating external information and copying and pasting it in the paper). Reviewing the more quantitative courses in the program should give you some approaches that can be used for this section. You want to locate data and bring in and then conduct the analyses yourself. Often, more than one approach is used to provide a complete Quantitative Analysis Section.
Conclusion
This should provide a strong summary of both the Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis Sections.
References
Many external references will be needed (at least 10, but likely more) and the vast majority should be from academic research journals from recent years. We want information that has been peer-reviewed.
(Additional information provided in Module 1 Module Materials)
Presentation
The presentation should be based on a PowerPoint presentation created by the author that is then presented by recorded video (information on recording video provided in modules). The presentation should follow the same format of the paper and discuss any important elements/issues that add appropriate information. The video recorder often has a 15 minute limit. If you go over this limit before finishing, just start another video and begin where you left off and make sure to copy and paste the links to both videos in the document you submit for the presentation assignment in Module 10.
