The article should not exceed 600 words. The rubric elsewhere in this folder will give you further guidance. Feel free to select any issue that has been covered in class in the lectures or discussion groups. Or you can pick another health policy related topic.
The best op-ed columns reflect passion, logic and research to make their case and do not simply spout conventional wisdom. The introduction and conclusion are developed fully and articulated well. The point of the article is stated early and reiterated toward the end. The conclusion is to the point and may include solutions. Anticipate the opposing viewpoint and address it. Write with conviction and maintain your focus throughout. Don’t be afraid to be critical.
The format is a standard Microsoft Word document with no footnotes. If you cite research—and doing so will enhance your score—simply hyperlink to the abstract, policy brief or article.
Please submit your assignment through the turnitin function found on the course’s main page. There needs to be no more than a 30 percent similarity score.
Also included in the folder is a couple of examples of op-eds I have written.
