Nursing Judgement through Critical Thinking
Every day, nurses must think critically about a client’s needs and what interventions will assist them in their path to optimal wellness.
Becoming a well cultivated critical thinker is a process, not an attribute that can be bestowed with the RN title. A critical thinker must raise essential questions, gather relevant information quickly, and assimilate the information to develop a solution to the problem that can be supported by standards, research, or other validity measures.

To fully understand where your profession is going, and assist in getting it there, you must be able to articulate where you have been. This permits learning from past mistakes and maximizes capitalization of past accomplishments.

Everyone has a theory, or view. Nursing has distinct theories that have served as the walls upon which pictures of knowledge are hung. This means that the practice of nursing is based on a specific body of knowledge that is built on theory. The application of theory to practice provides support or rationale for decision making.
