This week’s readings focus on leadership development, an ongoing challenge for organizations. Some of the previous weeks’ readings (chapters 37 and 39) have also focused on leadership development. As leaders are lost to attrition, retirement, and other causes, a pipeline of new leaders must be maintained to take up the challenge of leading the organization of the future—one that will be more culturally diverse and in need of collective leadership.
In your initial posting for the week, make suggestions about what you believe are the most important topics for leadership development (2 – 3 is sufficient) and effective methods for leadership development (2 – 3 is sufficient). Base your suggestions upon your personal experience, prior reading for the course, this week’s readings, and additional reading (suggested, not required). Leadership development needs and methods tend to be context specific, so it is recommended that you focus on your organization or industry in your initial posting.
