Case Presentation
JR is a 70 yr old male with HTN, hyperlipidemia, h/o CABG,( Coronary artery bypass graft surgery)is coming to his well care visit complaining of some shortness of breath (cannot walk as far as he used to). His medications are as follows: Aspirin 81 mg po daily, Lisinopril 10mg po daily, Carvedilol 12.5 mg po BID, Furosemide 20mg po daily, Spironolactone 25mg po daily, and Atorvastatin 80 mg po daily.
- Please discuss each drug from the viewpoint of the pathophysiology, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics’.
- Discuss each medication including the rationale for drug selection based on how the medication works in conjunction with the patient’s diagnosis and stage of CHF.
- Include the ADR’s, and patient teaching such as potential side effects, when to take the medication, and when to call his provider in regard to side effects.
