Case Conceptualization
Using the identified case study (Case of Ray Charles), create a PowerPoint presentation that explores and discusses relevant bio-psycho-social factors related to screening, assessment and treatment using the disease model or other etiologies of addiction disorders. Get creative, use audio and video if you wish. Your presentation should include the following sections and be submitted in the appropriate assignment drop box on Bb:
Presentation Format
- 1 title slide, 1 introduction slide, 9 content slides, 1 reference slide
- Use APA style and format for references
- PowerPoint will be graded on fulfillment of assignment, clarity of ideas, use of scholarly and course resources, correct format, and grammar
Title and Introduction (one slide for each)
Screening and Assessment: (at least one slide for each)
- Screening- determine the screening tool you would use and the rationale for your choice
- Substance use history (Current and Past)
- Assessment of medical and psychological issues, including co-occurring medical and psychological disorders, stage of dependence/change/recovery (as relevant to the case study)
- Exploration of the role of family, culture, and community
- Identified sources of risk and resilience
Treatment/Relapse Prevention/Other Service Needs: (at least one slide for each) Given your analysis of the case, what services would you recommend for this individual/family. You need to use course content/sources to provide a justification for your choices. You should identify the following in your recommendations:
- Substance abuse treatment services
- Designated level of care (outpatient, inpatient, residential…)
- Recommended model of treatment (Minnesota Model, Matrix, MI…)
- Recommended treatment modalities (group therapy, individual, family…)
- Relapse Prevention methods
