Purpose

The purpose of this assignment is to write the second part of the DNP Project. This assignment will allow you to present your introduction, background, practice question, literature synthesis, and evidence-based intervention. These project design sections will be added to the DNP Project Part 1 assignment. Turnitin will be applied to this assignment.

Instructions

Use the edited paper from the DNP Project Part 1 assignment, which included the purpose, problem, and problem significance section. Add the introduction, background, practice question, literature synthesis, and evidence-based intervention sections.

Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the assignment. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.

  1. Part 2 will be graded on the quality of information, use of current research, Standard English usage and mechanics, APA format, and overall organization based on the required components as summarized in the guidelines and grading criteria/rubric.
  2. Review the grading rubric carefully and consider how to incorporate each required criterion into Part 2 of the DNP Project Template.
  3. Review the tutorial on the use of the DNP Project Template in the Week 2 lesson.

Follow the instructions on the template for the introduction, background, practice question, literature synthesis, and evidence-based intervention. Submit Part 2 of the DNP Project.

  1. Introduction and Background
    1. Place the title of your project as the heading of this section. The title is bold and centered.
    1. Start the introduction with a powerful statement or two to stimulate the interest of your reader.
    1. Explicitly state that the DNP Project concerns an evidence-based intervention to improve healthcare outcomes. Improving healthcare should include variables of quality, safety, effectiveness, patient-centeredness, timeliness, cost, efficiency, and/or equity, and it should include referenced statistics.
    1. Explicitly state the practice problem and the purpose (aim) of the project.
    1. Identify the outline of the paper sections to preview what the paper will include.
  2. Practice Question
    1. Under this primary heading, include a one-sentence practice question.
    1. Begin this section with a lead-in sentence such as, “The following practice question will serve as the basis for the DNP project:”
  3. Research Synthesis and Evidence-Based Intervention (4 Parts)
    1. Part 1: The Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool
      1. Before writing the synthesis, complete the Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool. Enter a minimum of 10 (or more) research articles supporting the evidence-based intervention in the table, entering the correct information in each column (Appendix A in the DNP Project Template). If you keep the same topic, you may use your research from NR730 and other previous courses. You will be submitting the completed Johns Hopkins Individual Evidence Summary Tool with this assignment.
    1. Part 2: Brief Description of Intervention and Endorsement
      1. Begin this section with the name and brief description of the evidence-based intervention.
      1. Identify the national organization or government agency that endorses the intervention, if applicable.
    1. Part 3: Process, Outcome, and Themes of Research Evidence
      1. Start the synthesis section with a statement of how many articles are included that support the intervention related to the population and the outcomes for your project.
        1. The synthesis section must include at least 10 articles supporting the intervention.
        1. The articles must be 5 years old or less.
        1. The sources should be evidence-based, peer-reviewed research articles.
        1. The synthesis may include both quantitative and qualitative research studies and national standards or guidelines.
      1. In a brief summary statement, provide the numbers of research articles that are level I, II, and III and give a summary of the quality of the research articles.
      1. Identify the main themes that emerge from the sources and describe how the intervention has been utilized to solve a similar problem.
      1. Explain the differences (contrast the main points) in the research articles.
      1. Present an objective overarching synthesis of the research statement supporting the evidence-based intervention.
    1. Part 4: Detailed Sequence of Intervention
      1. Provide an in-depth and exact explanation of the evidence-based intervention you will implement. Describe the intervention exactly as the intervention was implemented in the research articles and include the specific key details.
      1. Use the research articles to create a detailed discussion describing each of the steps in the intervention implementation. The evidence-based intervention should be implemented as described in the research, with all the original authors’ intended components.
      1. Describe in detail how each participant will engage with the intervention from the beginning to the end of the intervention. This should be so detailed that someone else who has never heard of your project can pick up your intervention description and implement this exactly as you described.
  4. References
    1. Information in this manuscript must be substantiated by citations.
    1. Reference publication dates must be within the last 5 years.
    1. References must be from peer-reviewed journals, government websites, and credible national and global organizations.
    1. In-text citations should align with the reference page.
    1. In-text citations and references must be in the current APA format.
  5. Scholarly Writing Criteria
    1. Submit the paper on the DNP Project Template.
    1. Use the headers provided in the template.
    1. Use the current APA style and format throughout the project.
