ACCT-424-A Accounting Capstone Project
Project Types (Options)
- Empirical study (advance research) – an analytical research project about accounting,
auditing or financial phenomena using statistical tests of large random samples and proper
control group procedures. - Case writing (company analysis) – a case write-up for a real company with its historical
background to point out its accounting or finance problems and to give suggestions for
solutions, or to give an intensive study on particular issues. Students may also compare
various companies in the same industry in respect of certain areas, such as depreciation
policy, financial policy, payment of labor and incentive schemes, etc. - Survey – using survey method to find out the application of accounting principles and
finance theories in the real world. Sampling and questionnaires are needed for data collection
and empirical analyses.
Subject Areas
Students may choose any accounting subject areas covered in the Accounting program
curriculum. These include financial accounting, cost and managerial accounting, financial
management, taxation, auditing, or accounting information system. Students may also combine
two or more areas and integrate knowledge learnt.
