- Explain the qualities of a good manager and a good leader. Mention at least 5 qualities for each. (Mention Peter Drucker, Mintzberg and other theorists).
Using your selected business state which type of management and leadership style they have (Tannenbaum & Schmidt), give reasons for your answer and evidence where you can.
- Explain what type of organisational structure your selected business has? Explain why you have chosen this structure – advantages and disadvantages of using this structure. Explaining the importance of different department functions.
State the purpose of market research (different types and why they are used, give an example of a form of research your selected business has used for one of their products). Include your product life cycle example and your SWOT analysis diagram, also include PESTLE analysis.
Market segmentation (explain what customers your business targets, why you think this or how you know) and the marketing mix (explain with an example of one of your businesses products, apply to each of the 4p’s.
- Explain the 7 different methods of corporate communications in which businesses can use – describe the purpose of each.
Describe a recent advertising campaign or publicity event from your selected business. This may be considered good or bad in media coverage – either way describe what happened – and suggest how it could have been handled differently.
Conclude with the importance of good management and planning and how this links to marketing functions and the public relations team, and further moves onto the success or failure of the business.
