These are short answer questions. Please answer in full sentences and in paragraph form. You should aim to write a paragraph (roughly somewhere between three to seven sentences) for each question. To answer these questions, you will need to have read this week’s four readings. Please use quotations and cite the author and page numbers if you quote material from the readings.
Your answers should be single-spaced, and in Times New Roman font size 12.
1. What is race? Why does Roberts argue it is a political category?
2. What is the racial wealth gap? How was it created and sustained?
3. What is red lining?
4. What is color blind racism?
5. What was the government’s role in creating the racial wealth gap? (Think here specifically about the things mentioned in “Race—The Power of an Allusion.”)
6. Was there anything you read this week that you feel really strongly about (in disagreement or agreement)? Or still have questions about? If so, write those here! This is a required question, but there are absolutely no wrong answers on this question!
