Note: This assignment will be used as a basis for your Wk 5 Group Proposal assignment.
As a social worker, you will be responsible for identifying and addressing the needs of your clients or community. One method to address the identified needs may be to create a group.
Imagine you have been asked to create a group to assist with one of the following topics:
- Anger management
- Substance dependence
- Life skills
- Social skills
- Stress management
Select a type of group you would like to focus on for this assignment.
Complete and submit TWO separate items for this week’s assignment.
Item 1:
Using Brochure Builder, create a 6-panel brochure to market your new group, and include:
- The name of the group
- The purpose of the group
- The length (number of weeks) of the group
- The meeting day(s), time(s), and place(s) (e.g., Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at the City Library, Room 123)
- The benefits participants can expect to get out of the group
- The general rules and expectations for group members
- Pictures and graphics as appropriate
Item 2:
Using Microsoft Word, write a 175- to 350-word executive summary explaining to your organization how the group will work. In this summary:
- Determine which group development model you will utilize, and explain why.
- Justify a leadership approach for this type of group.
- Define the operational and nonoperational goals of the group.
- Explain how you will address topics such as competition, cooperation, conformity, and disruptive behavior.
- Explain how you will ensure effective and productive communication in your group.
