TMA 01 is formative but compulsory – the purpose of this assignment is to enable you to set out your ideas and get feedback on them from your tutor.
Write a draft of the introductory chapter of your dissertation.
- Briefly describe the background to your research and outline the problem or issue that you want to focus on in your study.
- Explain why you think this problem or issue is important to address and what your aim is.
- Describe your preliminary research question(s), and explain why you think this will make a good research question(s).
- Discuss the sorts of evidence (i.e. data) that you think you will need to collect in order to answer the research questions. Consider how good or reliable you think this evidence is likely to be.
Make sure the introduction covers:
Background – describes the background or context to the issue or topic that you want to research.
Issue – explains the topic or problem that you want to research. List the aims and objectives.
Importance – explains why the research is worth doing.
Solution – explains how your research will throw light on the issue you have chosen to research to improve understanding and/or practice. You will also discuss the contribution.
