INTRODUCTION


For this assessment, you will evaluate communication methods and strategies, then record yourself delivering a multimedia presentation (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote) using the Panopto video recording system.

For instructions on how to access and use Panopto, go to the web links section below. To meet the assessment requirements, you must submit your recording URL for evaluation along with your multimedia presentation.

To submit this task, you will upload the recording to the Panopto drop box folder titled “Management Communication.” Once the recording has been uploaded and saved in Panopto’s system, you will retrieve the URL of the recording from Panopto and submit it along with the remaining task requirements for grading.

SCENARIO


You are a manager for Merrilton Robotics and will soon be onboarding new employees in your department. You need to evaluate communication strategies and methods, provide a presentation for new employees based on your findings, and create an executive summary of your presentation.

REQUIREMENTS


Your submission must be your original work. No more than a combined total of 30% of the submission and no more than a 10% match to any one individual source can be directly quoted or closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly. The similarity report that is provided when you submit your task can be used as a guide.

You must use the rubric to direct the creation of your submission because it provides detailed criteria that will be used to evaluate your work. Each requirement below may be evaluated by more than one rubric aspect. The rubric aspect titles may contain hyperlinks to relevant portions of the course.

Tasks may not be submitted as cloud links, such as links to Google Docs, Google Slides, OneDrive, etc., unless specified in the task requirements. All other submissions must be file types that are uploaded and submitted as attachments (e.g., .docx, .pdf, .ppt).

A.  Evaluate two types of organizational communication strategies (e.g., indirect, direct, pivoting) by doing the following:

1.  Describe a business situation where the two selected organizational communication strategies are used effectively.

2.  Describe three attributes that correlate with one of the selected communication strategies.

B.  Evaluate two types of organizational communication methods (e.g., email, letter, blog, social media) by doing the following:

1.  Describe a business situation where the two selected communication methods are used effectively.

2.  Describe three attributes that correlate with one of the selected communication methods.

C.  Design a multimedia presentation (e.g., Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote) (suggested length of 8–12 slides and no longer than 15 minutes) for new employees communicating the effectiveness of the organizational communication strategies and methods you evaluated in parts A and B by doing the following:

1.  Create an audiovisual recording of yourself delivering a presentation using an approved platform that incorporates your multimedia presentation content from part C.

a.  Demonstrate confidence, credibility, and professionalism while delivering a well-organized presentation.

Note: The video should feature you visibly presenting the material wearing professional attire (i.e., not using a voice-over or embedded video) and should simultaneously capture both you and your required multimedia presentation. The presentation should be clear and well organized, and you should demonstrate strong communication skills and represent a strong professional appearance. You must submit your multimedia presentation with this task.

D.  Write an executive summary (suggested length of 1 page) based on the multimedia presentation you designed in part C.

E.  Acknowledge sources, using in-text citations and references, for content that is quoted, paraphrased, or summarized.

F.  Demonstrate professional communication in the content and presentation of your submission.
