Read these instructions before clicking on “Unit I Discussion Board-Question” above. On or before August 29th, the last day of the second week and last week of Unit I in not less than 500 words and in no more than 1000 words post your answer to the Unit I Discussion Board question: (1) Define and describe the doctrine of Separation of Powers (2) discuss how it is being applied to the current three branches of the federal government and (3) state whether you believe it is working as the Founding Fathers had intended and if so why and if not why not.
Inasmuch as each post is critically graded and due to both space and time constraints only one posted in answer to the Unit I Discussion Board question is permitted per student. Accordingly, a deduction of 5 points per post will be imposed for additional posts. Accordingly, the Unit I Discussion Board is reserved just for this assignment and is NOT intended as a “chat room,” etc. For all other informal communications in the nature of a chat or blog (which will be not graded), the students should use the Open-Discussion Forum which can be accessed by clicking on it on the vertical menu on the left side of the screen.
Format, etc. –
Typed – in black Times New Roman 12 pt. font
Length – at least 500 words but not more than 1000 words
Citations -at least 4 in-discussion citations to authorities on the subject, one being to the course text, in modified (include page #) APA format.

Word Doc draft – it is recommended that you first prepare your answer offline on a Word Doc and then copy and paste your answer by
Click on “Unit I Discussion Board Question – above on top left-side of these instructions after you have proofed and saved Word Doc draft of your answer
Click on “Create Thread” – once you are in the Unit I Discussion Board-Question click on “Create Thread”
Post Answer – then type (or copy and paste) your answer in the “Message” box
Submit – Once you have posted your answer click on “Submit” (not “Cancel” or “Save Draft”).
Grading – Grade/Score = (1) substantive quality of the discussion in answering the question, (2) form, (3) length and (4) grammar/spelling. See Module 1 Discussion Board-Question Sore Matrix/Example below.
