There is no set topic or question for this research paper. The question or topic you address in this research paper must make use of comparative analysis to analyze a significant problem encountered by more than one health care system. The problem that you analyze:
- Could for example address a specific problem such as particular failures of governance, financing or service delivery. It could also be directed at improving the health of particular populations of people, or it could include the goal of improving the quality of health care.
- You must clearly define the framework for analyzing this problem. For example, does the problem emerge because the health system is directed at achieving universal health coverage. Alternatively, if the health system is not directed at achieving universal health coverage you must clearly specify the goals that the health system is directed at achieving.
You must address this problem by analyzing the interactions between the WHO health system functions. You must address the following issues:
- How do the interactions between the health system functions contribute to the emergence of this problem(s)?
- How do proposals to respond to the problem aim to influence the interactions between the health system functions?
If one of the health systems that you are analyzing has resolved the problem that you are addressing, you must specify how the interactions between the health system functions in that health system produce this outcome. You must also identify the different sets of challenges that emerge out of the interaction between the health system functions in this health system?
The overall goal of this research paper is to encourage analysis of how different health systems address particular problems or challenges. It requires analysis of how different patterns of interactions between the health system functions either resolve or contribute to the emergence of these problems or challenges.
