Reflect on the historical changes for mixed-heritage people from the late 1800’s through the 20th century, focusing on how the concepts of “race” and “ethnicity” changed during the 20th century. Be historical (dates for each era, in chronological order, and state what changed, when, and why). Conclude with a discussion of ethics (choose one: democracy, capitalism, indigenous OR ask me) and how we should deal with our history and our mixed-heritage.

You must have all these elements or your grade will be incomplete:
- Title page and citations; neither are part of page count.
- 5-6 pages (1800 to 2400 words), double-spaced, 1 inch margins, 10-12 font, pages numbered.
- Assigned course materials as appropriate; this is your test of the course materials so you must use readings, movies, lectures, and discussions.
- One outside source: a 21st century firsthand account of being mixed-heritage. See separate handout.
- Course concepts as appropriate, with definitions in your own words.
- Dates or eras for all paragraphs, events, examples, and quotes.
- Focus on: mixed-heritage history, historical changes, and real people (i.e., eye-witness accounts).
