I would like to express my interest in CDU University to undertake my NFP Program. I understand that one of the major values of your institution is to serve the underrepresented, underserved, and under-resourced groups in the community and I feel that I fit into the program. I know that the core goal of this program is to enable the students to serve a diversified number of members by delivering healthcare services to the members of society in multiple fields. My interest in undertaking these diversified healthcare roles have dated back to my college education in Excelsior College in New York where I learned under different medical settings such as medical, surgical units, and telemetry units. Working in these units assured that I gained more insight on working with diversified work settings and culture of people.
I have gained substantial experience that can allow me to undertake the program as I have great skills to take me through the program. First, I worked as a licensed vocational nurse in Los Angeles from 2004 to 2007. During this period, I have taken supervision roles by ensuring that the nursing care is provided as depicted in the care plan. In addition, I coordinated a bi-annual health fair with city organizations and news agencies with a purpose of promoting the hospital services hospital image to the community as well as the. These experiences shaped my leadership skills in coordinating and conducting a team to work toward a common goal.
Later, I worked as a registered nurse and a supervisor in Country Villa Mar Vista, Los Angeles, from 2007 to 2012, where I carried supervision roles that were in line with my leadership skills. During this period, I polished my skills on supervising both licensed and unlicensed personnel by carrying daily supervisions. I ensured that activities were completed on time and accurately while adhering to the nursing changes. Currently, I am serving as a registered nurse at Genesis Health Care Center and Rehab, California as well as in Southern California Hospital. Working in these two institutions has enriched my skills in coordinating and monitoring nurse’s actions. This has expanded my knowledge and skills in serving and handling different people, which I am sure that it is of great help in studying and grasping the contents of the NFP program.
Besides, I feel fit for the program as I possess strong communication skills and I am proficiency in English and Spanish. Working with different personnel and in different settings has ensured that I have gained substantial communicating skills that are important in this program. Moreover, the educational and working experience has revealed played a positive role in enhancing my leadership skills by ensuring that I have conducted my team well. In this case, I see myself suitable for the NFP program, as I possess a number of prerequisite skills required to undertake the program. I can as well see myself conducting the NFP activities by leading a group of a team dedicated to assisting the unaddressed issues in the society. As such, it is my believe that you will grant me this opportunity to undertake this program in your institution as it will be a wish granted as it will not only grow me as educationally and as a profession, but it will also equip me with skills necessary for laying a platform of giving back to my society.
