Nursing Profession
In terms of aesthetic knowing, the American Association of College of Nursing is substantially advancing the professional standards of nursing with the aim of improving the health care systems. The association encourages Advanced Practice Nursing Roles in the nursing institution who delivers a higher quality of nursing care as compared to the bachelor nurses (McClelland, 2014). These nurses have their roles articulated well by the International Council of Nurses with professional standards and values are also clarified
In terms of empirical knowing, the Advanced Practice Nursing Roles include the Clinical Nurses, Certified Nurse Midwives, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and a general Nurse Practitioner (McClelland, 2014). Certification of nursing roles provides a broad range of functions of nurses. Clinical Nurse Specialists are doctoral or masters nurses who are focused on population, specialty or setting. A Clinical Nurse Leader can integrate both leadership role and nursing care delivery (Dury, et al., 2014). They can be accountable for health care for a given patients within the particular unit.
In terms of ethical knowing, nursing professional ethics are the norms and values which must be adhered to during the nursing practice. They define the rights, benefits, responsibilities and duties, which give nurses a guideline to accomplish their daily obligations and protect the patients (Kangasniemi, Pakkanen & Korhonen, 2015). Nursing professional ethical codes describe the best practices thus it varies from nation to nation and it is subjected to constant change to incorporate innovations in nursing practice.
In terms of personal knowing, my project is implementing a safe and cost effective nursing orientation program for home health nurses. This program is aimed at educating nurses to provide the basic nursing care services at cheaper costs especially to home-based patients. In my project, most targeted groups of patients include pregnant, childbearing mothers who are at home and patients with chronic illness receiving palliative care at home.
Indeed, the American Association of College of Nursing articulates nursing professional values and standards best practice and service delivery to patients at various specialties. This encourages high-quality health care delivery system and ensures that responsibility and clarity of nursing roles. Nursing ethical code guides the conduct of nurses in their daily activities.
