After watching Lyndon Johnson’s address on the Civil Right’s Act , and using your own experiences, training, upbringing, and Christian World View, please discuss the following questions:
- If you are old enough to have grown up in the 1960’s, what do you remember from the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act?
- If you did not grow up in the 1960’s or are the child of a parent who grew up in the 1960s, is there something you can relate to regarding the tenants of the Civil Rights Act? (I was born in 1968 and my parents were married in 1963 so were in their late 20’s when the Civil Rights Act was signed.
- Please discuss the critical tenants, especially the Right to Vote for all Americans, the Rights against Discrimination because of one’s Race, [Color], because of one’s Gender, because of one’s National Origin [ethnicity], and because of one’s Religion [Creed].
- How have you experienced and applied the tenants of the 1964 Civil Rights Act? If so, please give a small example and incorporate it into your Discussion Post or Reply
