Lobbying Paper – Midwife Program
1. Identify 3 special interest groups(maybe pharmaceutical companies, nurse anesthetists, Midwives, Nurse Practitioners) (one has to be American Nurses Association)
2. Discuss the agenda of each special interest group including: a. economic incentives b. Political incentives c. Socioeconomic biases d. ethical dilemmas
3. Discuss whether or not each group is a private interest group or public interest group and why
4. Discuss lobbying strategies that have worked well for each group and why
5. Discuss lobbying strategies that have failed for each group and why
6. Discuss one professional topic that is of concern to you in your area and what you would do to lobby for or against that issue (topic I would like to discuss would be less physician supervision for midwives)
1. paper must be typed in 12 point type
2. body of paper is not to exceed 4 pages
3. must have a title page
4. minimum of five references must be used
5. paper and references must be in APA style following the 5th edition
6. headings must be used
7. written in third person
