KEY ASSIGNMENT 1 – Micro-Consulting Mid-Term Project (40 points)
Purpose
This project provides hands-on experience applying Human Resource Development (HRD) concepts to a real or realistic organizational challenge. You will conduct a needs assessment and propose a practical HRD intervention using the HRD Framework (Assess → Design → Implement → Evaluate). Organization Development (OD) concepts are used to provide context for implementation and change readiness.
This is an HRD-focused project. OD concepts are included to support contextual understanding, not to conduct a full organizational diagnosis.
This assignment aligns with our LOD program outcomes through:
- Organization development theory and methods: Needs assessment, diagnosis, intervention recommendations
- Transformative learning & strategic thinking: Encourages you to make sense of real organizational dynamics
- Leadership capacity: Requires communication, relationship-building, and reflective practice

Instructions
Choose one organizational context (e.g., workplace, student organization, community group, volunteer organization, affiliated group, or a realistic fictionalized scenario).
Your project must include:
- Organizational Context
- Overview of the organization or unit
- Overview of the setting, mission, people, structure, and goals
- Needs Assessment
- Use at least two assessment methods (e.g., interviews, observations, documents, surveys, performance data)
- Identify learning or performance gaps
- Analyze root causes (individual, task, organizational)
- HRD Framework Application
