In the recent book by Google executive Eric Schmidt, and Jared Cohen, titled “The New Digital Age: reshaping the future of People, Nations, and Business, Schmidt states that “the Internet is among the few things that humans have built that they don’t truly understand.” Please, if a few pages, explain the Internet… or at least discuss how it – and 24-hour news channels, cell phone cameras, social media, surveillance videos etc. – have raised new legal and ethical media issues, especially in the aftermath of the numerous smart phone videos of police and civil unrest, WikiLeaks, fake-news websites, “bots”, and the ongoing Facebook privacy controversy.
