I Love Lucy Reboot

There have been many successful reboots that have happened in the history of television series. A good example would be the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, a classic example of how reboots should be done (Achouche and Moulin 65). It entails both the allure of the past and the present brought together by appreciating the social changes different generations have undergone until the initiation of the reboot. There is no doubt that the I Love Lucy reboot is going to be as much of a modern phenomenon in the modern world of films as much as Hawaii Five-0 has been. I Love Lucy is a show that gained much popularity when it was first aired on national television over half a century ago. The show was characterized by strong and influential characters that delivered acts supporting different themes of the society back then. The characters did this not only with class but also talent and charisma. Furthermore, it was considered to be a comical show due to how hilarious the acts were.

The reboot of I Loves Lucy will be as epic as many of the successful reboots. The show was popular then, and it has been popular in recent times when it was regularly aired on television. The film starred the main character Lucy, including Ricky and Little Ricky. Obviously, the show will not be the same show it was fifty years back, but I hope to the reboot will at least maintain the authenticity of the show that appeals to viewers now as it did back then. However, the reboot of I Loves Lucy will have a completely different cast portraying the same charismatic and strong characters of the original show.

The comedy will still play a big part in the show. Although Lucy will maintain her charismatic aura of clownish and physical comedy, it will all be approached in a modern sense, showing that most of the characters will still be the same old characters of the original show (Thompson and Mittell 246). However, what will truly change is the definition of comedy, which has been significantly transformed in the last five decades or so after the show premiered. The reboot will maintain the physical comedy by integrating roles of characters that had not been made useful in the original film. For example, Lucy’s grandparents will create a comical environment through their discussion of the moral decay of the modern generation, as they discuss how the moral compass does not point to the true north anymore.

Most importantly, Lucy, the main character will be portrayed as a take-no-prisoners character in the reboot of the show. However, she will still maintain her charismatic nature and her strong presence on set.  Moreover, the most important thing in the new film industry is the diversity of the cast. Which will be highly considered in the reboot of I Love Lucy. The cast will be static in their pertinent roles but dynamic in portraying themes that the current generation can relate with. Consequently, the reboot will be a focus on character development of the main character of the show. Earlier sitcoms did not put so much thought into the development of a character’s story. The reboot will undo this and create a developed character that the audience in the modern society can relate with.

The reboot will take into account the cultural norms of the modern generation. This information will be embedded in the story of the first season which will span over 14 episodes in total. The plot of the reboot will not differ much from the original plot. However, the plot will entail the main character, Lucy, being a mother and a working wife while the husband will be a musician just as it was in the original script. The couple will tell a story of two individuals who start a family together and try to scale the heights of modern society are they discover passions and dreams they wish to fulfill. The story will have a modern and dynamic touch. Furthermore, the story will touch on societal issues that affect the modern America. Issues like illegal immigration, the search for the American dream, racism, the rise of media and the music industry and appreciating the different technological developments that have shaped the modern mindset of human beings.

Indeed, the reboot will differ to the original in some sense but will still maintain the foundation of the show that came to be loved by both the old and younger generation. The main character will maintain her take-no-prisoner attitude and comical spirit. Furthermore, the reboot will feature the development of Lucy’s character as well as other significant characters of the show. The story line will not differ much from the original one. Correspondingly, the reboot will add a modern touch to the story line so that it relates more to the modern society.
