Two of the key topics related to this week’s reading are the concept of Hypothesis Testing and the concept of Significance. Based on your readings and research:
a) Provide a definition of the Null Hypothesis and the Alternate Hypothesis; then discuss why it is important to define the Hypotheses as the first step in designing the proper analysis framework necessary to address your client’s problem.
b) Why should you consult with your client about setting the Confidence Level (CL) for your analysis? Is it a good idea to recommend a high CL in all situations? Take a position and defend it.
2.3 Week Two Discussion #2
After completing this week’s readings, select the title of this week’s discussion assignment to compose your response. Your initial response should address the following issues:
Two very important statistical concepts from this week’s study are:
The Normal Distribution (ND) and
The Empirical Rule (ER).
Based on your readings (and research):
Provide definitions of both the Normal Distribution and the Empirical Rule.
Discuss how the ER can be used to help understand how data are grouped around the mean of a normal distribution by using the population Standard Deviation.
Discuss the importance of the z-transformation formula. How does it work and how is it useful in real-world applications? Note: there are plenty of examples in both chapters as well as the study materials. Try to be somewhat original.
