Thesis: In Harper Lee‘s novel ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’ Calpurnia and Miss Maudie Atkinson act as a positive influence on Scout. Miss Maudie is a strong influence in teaching Scout to be a lady, while Calpurnia is a mother figure. Both of these characters help shape the type of woman Scout will grow to become.
