1. Freedom was a major theme in the United States from 1865-1918. Reconstruction Union Governments in the South, the Populist Party, Progressives and the Knights of Labor attempted to develop freedom. Discuss the similarities in goals of any of these groups and reasons why each succeeded or failed in expanding opportunity for self definition and self determination for individuals in the working classes.
