This week’s work is guided by COs 1, 2, and 3:
CO 1: Explain the challenges of developing effective long-term foreign policy.
CO 2: Describe the conditions under which leaders are most able to mobilize the masses in their respective states.
CO 3: Examine the goals, methods, and effectiveness of violent and/or non-violent movements for social, economic, and political change.
World War I was a war that was different from most previous and future wars in that there was no clear-cut rationale for its prosecution. The American Revolution was a result of Britain’s perceived abuses of the American colonists. The Civil War was fought over the practice of slavery. World War II was a result of Hitler’s aggression in Europe. Pick one reason for the outbreak of WWI, whether it is one of the “isms,’ the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand, or the European alliance system, and provide your reasoning behind your choice. How is your choice connected to the other catalysts?
