1) Imagine your were a professional athlete. With the pressure to excel you found, a magic drug that when taken (only once) you could win every competition you entered for the next five years. There was one minor drawback—it would kill you five years after you took it—would you still take the drug? Do you think professional athletes are under so much pressure they dismiss the ramifications of taking performance-enhancing drugs? Identify at least three notable professional athletes from the U.S. who have been connected to performance-enhancing drugs.
- If performance-enhancing drugs were approved for use in professional sports do you think society (i.e. sporting fans) would also be accepting of such a move. Why or why not? If performance-enhancing drugs were both approved and accepted how would college and youth sports be affected and/or influenced?
