Discussion on Ba Jin, “Dog” (1931), in CAMCL, 110-115.
Canvas discussions (20%) aim to create a student-centered learning environment by fostering discussions on questions that interest or puzzle you.You are required to read assigned readings (focusing on fictions) and post your impressions, questions, and excerpts from literary works that interest you on Canvas.Your weekly discussion post should be no less than 250 words. Late discussion will not be graded. No Make-up.
The discussion will be graded on a 3-point scale. Three parts are supposed to be included in your discussion posts: 1) your general expressions and comments on one or more fictions; 2) excerpts that you find interesting or worth discussing in class; 3) one or more questions you want to discuss.
The purpose of the online discussion posts is twofold: first, it promotes peer learning by sharing ideas and questions; second, facilitators for that week and instructors have the chance to know what YOU want to discuss and can use them for inspiration to facilitate in-class discussion. Canvas discussion is an integral part of promoting a student-centered learning environment in class.
