CREATIVE WRITINGS assignment
You have been enlisted to create an Event Concept presentation and report for 2017/2018 Volunteer Celebration Day, which I chose Christmas Gala Dinner for my company which all employees invited also their family generally for this event.
The Executive Committee of the venue have provided you with the following criteria:
The event must:
o Create the wow factor that will thank those who volunteered at the venue for their time and support. This event should incorporate some of the venue’s overall intangible characteristics (or the overall ‘vibe’ of the venue)
o Have some type of catering option. (BUFFET)
Report instructions in general:
Students are required to organise their report on week 6
The aim of the report is to provide an opportunity for your design ideas to be judged and evaluated as a realistic concept that could be used for the 2017/2018 Volunteer Celebration Day. You are required to imagine that the Executive Committee (Assessors) are looking to select the best concept for the Celebration Day.
The report will provide an excellent representation of the event design concept illustrating important aspects of the event via a combination of graphics and text depicting the five W’s.
Criteria for the Report:
The report is required to cover all the criteria mentioned below.
o Provide a brief overview including:
- The Venue (Abbottsford Melbourne function room)
- Event name, type, duration
- Overview of the event concept
- Proposed month and date and justification
- Justification for the location of the event (with in the venue)
- o Main purpose /objectives – SMART criteria ; Specific – target a specific area for improvement.
- Measurable – quantify or at least suggest an indicator of progress.
- Assignable – specify who will do it.
- Realistic – state what results can realistically be achieved, given available resources.
- Time-related – specify when the result(s) can be achieved.
o Target Market

o Theming, Layout and Program
o Staging and Entertainment o External Suppliers
o Catering Requirements
o Accessibility at the Venue o Sustainability Discussion
