TekEffect is facing many problems with copyright violations and infringement in their bid to educate parents, teachers, and other adults on the risks of excess technology use to children. Audience

The adults, including teachers and parents, that are targeted by this program by TekEffect are graduates of ESU. After graduation, they go out there and become role models to the children thus they have the greatest power of protecting the children from the ill effects of excess technology. Since they are the group that uses the TekEffect website mostly, they are the most likely copyright infringers on the site and they need to be educated about the basics of copyright violation and infringement. For testing the module, IT830 students at the university will be utilized as a test audience.

Training Strategy

Instructional System Design (ISD), which is most commonly referred to as ADDIE is the teaching strategy that I would propose for the purpose of this course. ADDIE is a pneumonic for the five key steps when using this strategy in education – analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation (Peterson, 2003). Just as the steps in the process reveal, with ADDIE, I will first analyze the needs of my audience before designing and developing strategies that will enable highly effective delivery of content.

Since the audience attaches a lot of meaning on the training modules about protecting children from the ill effects of technology, attaching the copyright basics course closely to this will motivate them to take it up. Reiser and Dempsey (2012), assert that one is more motivated to learn things that they perceive as more meaningful in their bid to achieving certain goals. By using the audience’s own motivation to design a teaching method for them, the basics principles of cognitive constructivism as a learning theory are followed to the latter and thus further confirming the effectiveness of ADDIE as a teaching strategy. As Peterson (2003) puts it, the fact that ADDIE is learner-centered makes it even more effective.

Instructional Technology

Learning Management System (LMS) is the instructional technology that is proposed for the delivery of this course content. LMS is a proven software that has been known to be highly effective in the delivery of online courses in the past (Ozkan & Koseler, 2009). For this course, I thought LMS would be best because it provides for easy administration, easy documentation, and most importantly, easy delivery of content. Moreover, by using LMS, it is very easier for the facilitator to assess the learners especially by use of multiple choice questions. According to Ozkan and Koseler (2009), most learners like this technology hence making it even more perfect.

21/2/2017 – Record D- Howell while he reading the script on the green screen.

27/2/2017 – Collect the materials to do the video on Adobe Premiere

1/3/2017 – Start to design the video on Adobe Premiere

15/3/2017 – Finish with the video and submit it.

Evaluation plan

The trainees will be evaluated many times in the course of the training. Evaluation will include multiple choice questions after every topic in the module. Further evaluation by way of such questions and presentations to show their practical skills will be done at the end of the training.

Since the course content for copyright basics can easily be combined with the course content for the protection of children from the ill effects of technology, no extra funding or staff are required.

Conclusion

Use of ADDIE in LMS seems a perfect way to deliver a short e-course. The combination of this content with the course content that is of greatest interest to the learners makes this proposal even more perfect as the trainees will be motivated more. This proposal is one that is worth implementing.
