For this case you will be dealing with a dataset from Ashland MultiComm Services. The company was first introduced in chapter 1, page 32 (that was a LONG time ago!). As noted on page 521:
“In its continuing study of the 3-For-All subscription solicitation process, a marketing department team wants to test the effects of two types of structured sales presentations (personal formal and person informal) and the number of hours spent on telemarketing on the number of new subscriptions.” A data set for the pat 24 weeks has been prepared. Note that the dummy variable “presentation” has been coded as follows: 0 = personal formal, 1 = personal informal presentation.
- Download a copy of the file Case4AMS14.xlsx to your computer. Don’t try to work on it by just clicking on the file name from Canvas. You need to save it first.
- Analyze these data and develop a multiple regression model to predict the number of new subscriptions for a week, based on the number of hours spent on telemarketing and the sales presentation type. Write a report, giving detailed findings concerning the regression model used. The report should include practical interpretations of the major sections of the printout (e.g. Multiple R, R Squared, slopes, etc.). Be sure you present the regression model and make a prediction for a week when formal presentations were made and there were 200 hours spent on telemarketing.
NOTE: As I’ve said before, I expect you to do your own work on this! I know people are working and studying together (which is great), but the final product MUST be your own.
