My career is of choice is human resource management. The career has job classes associated with it. These job types need three basic qualifications for the individual to be considered legit for the job. These requirements include the individual’s record on the person’s previous administration of assignments, the individual’s working paper evidence and technical ability (Flamholtz, 1999). The profession has a professional exam that is necessary to evaluate the competence of an expert (United States., & United States, 2008).

Furthermore, the human resource manager has the responsibilities which can be viewed in four aspects that include the strategic partner, the employee champion, the administrative expert and the change agent (Flamholtz, 2012). According to Flamholtz, the starting salary of a human resource manager is approximate $600 hence making the annual salary to be $7000 (2012). The career has no fixed payment. The employer mainly depends on the productivity of the human resource manager, the time spent by the human resource manager or both productivity and time spent (Snell and Bohlander 2012).

Next, the career has a lucrative salary. For instance, the United States Department of Labor has demonstrated this lucrative payment which was composed of median annual earnings of $74, 750 for the managers such as compensation and benefits manager (United States., & United States, 2008). This forms a substantial pay to the human resource manager irrespective of where the human resource manager lives.

Next, the cost of living in Houston is high as compared to other cities. As a result, the cost of living average becomes 8% below the national coverage. 34% of the Houston residents spend more than 30 percent of the income on housing (United States., & United States, 2008). These makes the conditions terrible for a human resource manager to live in such a city. They would prefer living in other cities which had relatively cheap living expenditures.

Besides, a human resource manager is expected to work for forty hours per week (Reed & Bogardus, 2012). This is the regular period that is required for the manager to work. Additionally, the human resource managers are beneficial since they help the business firms to improve their competence regarding the staff performance. The management also helps the companies enhance their productivity through better governance (Delaney & Huselid). On the contrary, poor human resource management leads to losses of the company and possible collapse. The poor skill also leads to loss of motivation for the workers (United States., & United States, 2008).

Next, the geographical areas have equal employment opportunities throughout the nation. Moreover, many companies employ the services of the human resource managers such as telephone companies, managed health care companies, saving institutions, finance companies and banks (United States., & United States, 2008). These companies ensure that there are full departments of the human resource management where managers lead the units.

Also, large organizations have realized the importance of having a human resource department. These organizations have established functional management department and employed human resource managers to fill those vacancies. The Department of Labor states that some of these professional organizations include the manufacturing, marketing, sales and computer system software engineers organization (United States., & United States, 2008). Thus, these organizations ensured the progress of the career in them.
