Task – Choose 1 of 2
Options
Option 1:
Step 1) Choose 1 child who you are confident will come to your childcare for the full week.
Step 2) Observe the child for at least 15 minutes at least 3 times during the week – at different times of the day throughout the week.
*You may use any observation format you wish as long as you meet the minimum amount of observation time. You do not need to submit your observations for this assignment, but if you do not take written observations, your paper will more than likely not have enough detail and I reserve the right to ask to see them if this is the case. I would recommend running records, anecdotal notes, milestone checklists or time/event sampling.
Step 3) Choose 1 theorist and in 2-5 pages (double spaced/size 12)
1. Evaluate if the curriculum you observed is developmentally appropriate for this child’s needs
2. Critique teaching strategies you observed used with this child during learning activities (Some things to consider are the child’s culture, the content of the curriculum, interactions, and environmental factors).
3. Evaluate and analyze how this child learns best and discuss how you came to these conclusions
