Write a 2-3 page essay comparing and contrasting the major theoretical traditions in sociology (functionalism, conflict, and interpretive/interactionist), mentioning the work of at least one major theorist from each tradition. Address the strengths and limitations of each and indicate which approach you favor and explain why? Be sure to discuss the contributions of feminist and minority voices to sociological theory as well.
You can reference the textbook you used in your Theory course and/or any introduction to sociology textbook to help with this assignment. The video I posted by the “3 minute sociologist” (he actually takes 7 minutes) is a great explanation and example of these approaches. You can reference this video or my power point slides on Sociological Perspectives posted under “Review Files”.
