The second assignment, due at the end of the course, will provide you with the opportunity to illustrate what you have learned from the course about the application of a palliative approach.
Using a case study which you can build from your own clinical experience and your own learning during the course, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of key aspects of each of the modules, including how you:
- Identify patients and families in need of a palliative approach.
- Use relational skills to assess patient and family needs, establish a shared understanding of the patient’s and family’s situation and develop a shared approach to care planning.
- Promote comfort and quality of life, including the assessment and management of symptoms.
- Support and care for the patient and family in the final days/hours and following the death.
- Reflect on the impact of caring for this patient and family on you as a nurse; your strategies for self-care.
This paper should be between 10-15 pages and submitted into the Assignment 2 Dropbox located in the Activities menu.
