Write a response to the novel Anger is a Gift. I want you to think particularly about the way Anger is a Gift depicts the role surveillance can play in this conversation. Also, I’d like you to reflect on the intersectionality of Anger is a Gift – this book not only intersects race and sexuality, but also the characters themselves represent multiple identities, without really lingering on them. Speak to the way the novel does that, and how it was for you as a reader to read a book that performs that intersection.
By response, I mean just that: engage thoughtfully with the book and informally tell your thoughts about the themes, characters, and their relationship to contemporary American life. Your response to the book should be 2 pages, single-spaced. I’m not looking for a particular format, but I do intend it to be thoughtful and a sincere reading of the book (rather than just re-telling the plot) focusing on ideas, themes, characterization, representation, conflict, etc.
