a. You should choose one piece of literary work by a writer included the course kit. You can also choose a work by a Chinese Canadian writer who is not in the course kit.

b. In your presentation, you should briefly analyze the work you have chosen within 10

minutes. There will be 5 minutes for you to answer questions from students after your

presentation. Exceeding the time limit will result in deduction of marks.

c. Right before your presentation, you must hand in a follow-up paper (5%). This ought to include a more comprehensive report on your findings. Because the presentation itself is only 15 minutes in total, this gives you a chance to include material that you had to exclude from the presentation. You should also include your bibliography. You must consult scholarly books and articles and not limit your research to internet sources. The paper should be typewritten and double-spaced with a good thesis statement supported by relevant evidence.

d. What I look for in your presentation is your original thinking, your insightful interpretations, your interaction with the class, and how you handle questions. The effective use of power point or other multimedia technology to exemplify or illustrate your analysis will be a good plus.
