For the last few weeks we’ve been talking about the New Hollywood movement, also known as the American New Wave, and the cultural and societal changes that allowed it to take place. This period, spanning the mid-to-late 1960s until the late 1970s, saw possibly the most radical change to mainstream American film making in its history.
There are a great number of films from this movement that are still having a major impact on today’s cinema and I feel that spending one or two weeks on it and seeing one or two list of films from the movement. I want you to pick one that you haven’t seen before, watch it, and write one and a half to two pages about the film and how it exemplifies the qualities of this film making movement. The response should also be in 12 pt font, double-spaced, and written like something you’d write for an English class.
