Knowing how to socialize with others is an essential skill that people should learn to promote the team-working spirit in a particular group of individuals. The ability can come naturally as a person’s character, or it can come through training and practice. Therefore, I would successfully help Kim improve her team building skills in both group and organizational levels through the use of techniques that would help to improve her communication skills.

First, I would teach her to learn how to communicate effectively in a group setting through the use of minutes. As Brewer and Holmes (2016) posit, effective communication plays a crucial role in the success of any team by alloing for exchange of ideas and socialization. I would teach her the importance of using of minutes from meetings that had been held previously by her fellow nurses to be aware of her responsibilities. She would use the minutes to get information about her duties and responsibilities that the fellow nurses had assigned to her (Marquis & Huston, 2015).

Second, I would encourage her to emulate any role model that she could identify in the staff. The role model would need to have effective communication skills. Roussel (2013) notes that role models can act as a mentors and guide young nurses through the process of learning how to socialize until they finally develops the skill. Thus, following a uccessful mentoring program, she would then undergo routine evaluation to evaluate her level of perfection.

Besides, I would personally offer a short-term coaching session to her if the above methods fail. I can do this coaching through performance deficiency coaching. This will ensure that she improves her service delivery to the patients and maintain her perception of me as her helper (Roussel, 2013). She will consequently feel less threatened by me. Consequently, this comfort will ensure that I get an accurate evaluation of her progress since she will be frank with me.

Apart from improving her communication skills in groups, I also help her develop communication skills at organization level through setting guidelines for committees to follow. I would make her understand the importance of using guidelines to ensure that the information gets to everyone in order. I would then make her learn how to make the guidelines effective by having penalties for those who will violate the guidelines (Marquis & Huston, 2015).

Additionally, I would make her learn of special techniques such as the Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation (SBAR) technique in communication. She would then use the method to communicate her solutions to various problems facing the staff.  Such methods would reduce the information error. Hence, the technique will ensure that the accuracy of the delivered message is not compromised resulting in fewer disputes in the staff due to inaccurate information (Marquis & Huston, 2015).

Furthermore, I would ensure that she improves knows the significance of a proper feedback system. Thus, I would help her learn how to promote a good feedback system in the hospital staff. This good feedback system would ensure that relevant stakeholders get the appropriate assessment of various things such as suggestions on how to conduct future training and the staff’s response to announcements (Marquis & Huston, 2015). This would promote team building.

From the above suggestions, it is evident that improving communication skills would help in team building. The various techniques used to improve communications in groups and in organization level also help in team building at those levels. Consequently, the techniques such as better feedback system and SBAR techniques for organizations should be promoted for the purpose of organizational team building. On the other hand, coaching, minutes recording and the use of role models should be encouraged for group team building.
